ReefWatch Marine Conservation, an NGO founded in 1993, with a field base in Chidiyatapu, offers visitors the opportunity to explore the biodiversity and natural beauty of the Andamans both above and below the ocean with trained naturalists.

You can join them for walks of varying difficulty levels in the forest, to secret beaches and in the mangroves. You can also sign up for presentations on a range of topics from Tides to Turtles, Wetlands to Whales.

These activities are fantastic for children and adults alike and will definitely increase your appreciation of the distant islands you have chosen for your vacation. As an additional benefit, the proceeds from the activities go directly towards funding conservation activities on the islands, including free educational programs for the local village children.

ReefWatch, in collaboration with Lacadives, also offers the only Coral Reef Restoration course in the country. Designed for certified divers, this 3 day programs teaches you coral reef conservation techniques through theory and practical in-water sessions. You can learn how to collect coral fragments, hitch them on to restoration structures, maintain and monitor the reef.
